Introduction to Micronaut: Lightweight Microservices with Ahead-of-Time Compilation
In this session, Graeme Rocher, co-founder of Micronaut and Grails, introduces the newly released Micronaut framework and demonstrates how Micronaut’s unique compile-time approach enables the development of ultra-lightweight microservices for Java.
Graeme also demonstrates how you can take your microservices to the next level by using Micronaut's ahead-of-time (AOT) compilation support and Oracle's GraalVM to achieve instant startup and ultra-low memory footprint.
Learn Micronaut: A Reactive Microservices Framework for the JVM
In this 3-hour workshop, Micronaut team member, Álvaro Sánchez-Mariscal, covers Micronaut's current features for building microservices, including dependency injection and inversion of control (IoC), configuration system, HTTP services, cloud and serverless deployments, and management and monitoring
Micronaut In Action!
In this live coding session, Micronaut team member, Iván Lopez, introduces the Micronaut framework and demonstrates how fast you can start developing "natively" cloud-native microservices with it. You will learn about reactive support, testing, http-client, service discovery, fallback, and GraalVM support.
SErverless Functions with Micronaut
In this session, Micronaut team member, Álvaro Sánchez-Mariscal, introduces Micronaut’s compile-time approach, fast startup time, and low memory footprint, which make it a great framework candidate for developing cloud-managed functions. Álvaro discusses Micronaut's dedicated support for developing and deploying functions to AWS Lambda and any FaaS system that supports running functions as containers (such as OpenFaaS, Rift, or Fn).
Micronaut is a modern, JVM-based, full-stack framework for building modular, easily testable microservice and serverless applications in Java, Kotlin, and Groovy. Micronaut was developed by the creators of Grails and takes inspiration from lessons learned over the years building real-world applications from monoliths to microservices using Spring, Spring Boot, and Grails.
Compelling aspects of the Micronaut framework include:
- Subsecond startup time
- Small processes that can run in as little as 10 MB of JVM heap
- No runtime reflection
- Dependency injection and AOP
- Cloud native
