Object Computing and Tolam Earth on Climate Panel at SXSW

During a climate technology panel at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference, Object Computing and Tolam Earth will share how enterprise businesses can reach their goals of net zero by 2040.

Object Computing CEO and Tolam Earth board member Bob Elfanbaum will represent both organizations on the Midwest stage on a panel sponsored by Greater St. Louis Inc. The panel of climate technology experts will discuss how to harness this technology to sustain our planet's health for the next generation.

SXSW celebrates the convergence of tech, business, art, and culture. Founded in 1987, SXSW is one of the largest gatherings of global thought leaders, hosted annually in Austin, Texas.

"Enterprises can accelerate toward aggressive sustainability goals through carbon offsetting programs and purchasing trusted, digital, high-quality environmental assets. I believe there are enough businesses passionate about sustainability to make a difference together for the health of our planet," said CEO Bob Elfanbaum. "Climate change is not a hopeless topic. Companies can make real advancements through the collective impact of individual small improvements. I am looking forward to representing the St. Louis community at SXSW, in an environment of global innovators."

NET ZERO BY 2040: HYPE OR HOPE?

Time: Monday, March 13 at 12:30 p.m.

Location: Midwest House

Moderator: Dedric Carter, Washington University at St. Louis

Panelists:

  • Bob Elfanbaum, Tolam Earth and Object Computing
  • Kelly Gillespie, Climate Corporation and Bayer Crop Science
  • Nick Renke, Habi Terre

Panel Description: To avert the worst impacts of climate change, the world needs to achieve "net zero" global greenhouse-gas emissions by 2044-2050, according to the latest United Nations IPCC Report on the Earth's climate system. One group of innovators from St. Louis is bullish that this vision can be realized as early as 2040. In this panel, leaders from three different companies discuss how technology is being harnessed and connected to create a credible, efficient, and transparent marketplace that incentivizes corporations, capital, and human behavior to move in the same direction toward science-based targets that sustain our planet's health.
