You'll receive instruction in basic computer programming concepts and hands-on experience writing your own programs using the Python scripting language, a powerful, high-level, general-purpose language that's particularly easy to learn and use.
Overview
This course provides beginners an introduction to the fundamentals of computer programming and covers the basic knowledge and skills needed to write programs in the Python scripting language.
Python is easier to use than many other conventional programming languages, and students get hands-on experience using fundamental programming concepts and Python syntax to write simple programs that solve problems in an information-oriented workspace.
An introduction to the basic Python libraries prepares participants to use these powerful tools in their own programs. Students also receive a demonstration of how performing computational tasks is easier with Python than is generally possible in shell scripting.
