This course provides a comprehensive overview of HTML and an introduction to CSS for IS and non-IS professionals who are interested in learning how to code webpages using these two indispensable tools.
Overview
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is the “language of the Web,” and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to describe the way HTML elements are presented.
In this introductory course, students learn the basics of HTML and CSS and participate in hands-on exercises to learn how to build Web pages using semantic HTML5 tags for content and structure and basic CSS for formatting and some page layout.
Objectives
- Learn about the essential components of a webpage and website
- Learn to develop web pages the correct way using semantic HTML5 elements for structure and CSS for formatting and page layout
- Understand some of the most important concepts of CSS, including inheritance and the Cascade
- Discover Markdown, an HTML preprocessor
- Delve into picking and presenting the perfect fonts using CSS
- Find out the best places to acquire great, legal multimedia resources you can use
