Iridium NEXT: Actually It IS Rocket Science

We’ve worked with the engineers on the systems involved in planning, commanding, and tracking the Iridium NEXT satellite network. We know you have complex issues, too. We can help.

"Iridium NEXT will replace the world's largest commercial satellite network of low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites in what will be one of the largest "tech upgrades" in history. Iridium has partnered with Thales Alenia Space for the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of 81 Iridium NEXT satellites, at least 70 of which will be launched by SpaceX. The process of replacing the satellites one-by-one in a constellation of this size and scale has never been completed before."

Our engineers helped write the software that makes the Satellite Network Operating Center (SNOC) work. This includes two OCI supported Open Source products: TAO and OpenDDS. Take a peek into the SNOC in this short video.

Iridium NEXT

We are proud to have been part of the Iridium project since 1995. Our software engineers are experts in helping clients gather large volumes of constantly flowing data from remote locations, aggregating, and processing the data securely.

We’re confident in our abilities to assist you with your complex, technical problems. Allow us to shed light on our experience solving space-sized problems, such as:

  • Aging infrastructures that have been accumulating technical debt for many years
  • Futureproofing your investment, assisting in your upgrade to modern technology, and eliminating software license costs through strategic use of Open Source solutions
  • Processing hundreds of millions of records per day from 66 satellites and two service processing sites.

Replacing your legacy systems is likely less complicated than replacing 66 satellites with new services and technology, but the concerns are the same. We’d love to discuss your specific constellation of “mission critical” applications and use cases.

Why OCI? Because we are experts in mission critical, low cost, highly scalable, and completely secure Open Source solutions for over 23 years. That’s why.
